Diversity Equality & Cultural awareness

The general prohibition of racial discrimination introduced by the RRA applies to all organisations, public, private and voluntary. The private sector is not directly bound by the duty to promote good race relations under the Race Relations Act 1976 (RRA). However, in certain circumstances businesses may have a contractual liability for meeting certain requirements of the race equality duty. However, promoting good race relations makes good business sense as companies need to recruit from and serve diverse communities. This training is therefore intended for all private and public organisations, regardless of their relation to the general race equality duty.
Organisations also need to consider issues of gender, disability, and sexual orientation as part of their overall equality and diversity strategies, from policies and practices through to staff training and development.

Service delivery
Providing excellent customer service is vital to retain customer loyalty and reputation. If there is discrimination in the way you provide services to a customer, you run the risk of a discrimination claim, which could have financial implications and damage your reputation. It is also in your interest, regardless of the size of your business, to attract a diverse customer base. If you are not achieving this, you should ask whether your approach is inclusive, culturally sensitive and, above all, non-discriminatory.
We have developed training courses for various levels within an organisation to raise awareness of diversity issues, increasing knowledge and skills and enabling staff to address issues of policy, practice and procedures.
