A module designed to provide staff with the key strategies for assessing risk in dynamic situations and making appropriate choices in order to stay safe.

Understanding Aggression

This module gives delegates an understanding of the causes of aggressive and challenging behaviour and enables them to identify the early physical and emotional stages of aggression in order to deploy de-escalation strategies.

  • Key aggression theories – Fight or Flight

Defusing & Resolving Conflict

Delegates will look at the communication dynamic and explore the six key elements of defusing conflict. They will also learn a simple four stage resolution model.

Law & Policy on Aggression in the Workplace

This module brings delegates up to date in relation to the law and their own organisation’s policies and practices on work related conflict.

  • Law on Self Defence & Reasonable Force
  • Policy & procedures on aggressive service users
  • Post incident welfare

Personal Safety & Disengagement Skills

A module designed to look at the practical issues of personal safety in all areas of work.  This module is not a “self defence” course, but will provide simple and easy to remember techniques to safely disengage from a situation and minimise the risk of injury to staff and service users.
